1st things First....

Hailey started 1st grade today! She was so excited last night she even put herself to bed! She had been to this school for Kindergarten so I felt comfortable she would know her way around. But just to be sure I walked her in. I asked if she remembered where her new class was. Joe took her to the "Meet the Teacher" night because I had to work. I didnt have a clue where to go. But, off we went down the hall ways. Hailey kept saying things like "yep, down this way....past the Library" and "One more turn and we are close". She lead us all the way to the 1st grade Hall. She didnt quite remember which class it was though. So, I found her class by reading the teachers name on the outside of the door. We walked in and her teacher Mrs. Toney was very sweet. She walked Hailey to her desk and had her hang her backpack near her cubby. I realized I no longer needed to stand around and hugged her goodbye. I was so proud of her for remembering how to get to the class on her own. It made me realize that she is becoming so independent.

After school was over I was anxious to hear about her day, so I called her from work. She said the cutest thing! I asked her "Hailey, did you have a good day?" She said "Yes I did, we had fun" I said "Thats great! Im glad you had fun" and then she said "Mommy, My teacher said she didnt know we were that smart! We surprised her with how smart we are. And now she knows we are smart kids!" Melted my heart! I told Hailey I was glad her teacher could see how smart she was. She was eager to go to bed tonight so she could start day 2. It helps that she has a few kids from her Kindergarten class with her including her best friend Jasmine. :) Jasmine made sure to let me know she was Hailey's "Best friend". That made me smile.

Looking forward to Megan starting Kindergarten next year! She cant wait either. I know its not easy for her to watch Hailey leave every day. Hailey is her best friend and I know she misses her company during the day. When its time to get Hailey from school Megan is the first one at the door ready to go. Im very grateful for the wonderful little girls I have. Makes me a very proud Mommy. :)

Its all in the Hips.....

So, we took Joseph to an orthopedic doctor... the news was not good, but offers a hopeful future. Joseph's hips are out of line. He is unable to sit up properly which is causing further delay developmentally. The doctor told us this would require surgery or within the next 6 mo to a year, his hips will be dislocated. Clearly this was not what we intended to hear. I expected something more along the lines of braces for his back and legs.

The doctor said during surgery he will chip out part of his hip bone, secure him with some screws and put him in a body cast for 6 weeks. The recovery time for this is what hurts me. We have been through surgeries before but watching my poor baby sit in a body cast will be very hard. He is finally getting more active. I feel like him being confined for so long will only delay him further. My biggest hope from this is that Joseph will have a stronger lower body allowing him to finally sit on his own. Previous specialists and therapists have told us that if he can sit on his own, in time he will walk. What an amazing sight that would be!!! So, we are backing the surgery and hoping for the best results possible. We will endure and we will be strong...for Joseph!!

Catching up is hard to do....

Its been a while since I have posted a blog on here. Not because I dont want to, its just finding the time. Life has been busy the past few weeks. Just the usual buzz around the family and getting things taken care of. We have still not sold our house..which is depressing. Thought we would have sold it by now. Had a really good shot, but they backed out. I just remind myself, if it doesnt happen..there is a reason for it.

The kids are all doing great. Hailey is about to start 1st grade on the 24th. She is looking forward to it but I can tell she is nervous. The only teacher she has known has been her kindergarten teacher Ms.Mitchell. I am anxious to have her meet the new 1st grade teacher so she can get excited about it. I already bought her school supplies and now just need to get some school clothes this weekend.

Megan is getting an attitude! She was always the more reserved one of the girls. Quiet and cuddly. She is still cuddly but will tell you a thing or two about it. She has developed a sense of commanding people and loves to do it. The good thing is, when she gets a little to far out of hand...she is easy to draw back when you say "EXCUSE ME???" haha. She will look up at you with those big eyes and say "What Mommy?" Its funny. We signed both of the girls up for Soccer this year. Hailey had alot of fun, so we look forward to seeing both of them play together. I think Megan will enjoy it.

Joseph is doing great too! He is finally gaining some weight on his ever so skinny body. We started him on Boost Kid Essentials. Its similar to Pedia Sure. He loves the Vanilla flavoring. He will drinkt he full 8 oz serving of it. He is doing great with his eye sight too. Even his occupational and Physical therapists notice his improvement. We are looking at getting him a new car seat to better accomodate him with his length. He is so long!! We have also been talking to his physical therapist about something called a Kid Kart. Its a combonation of a seat, car seat and stroller. Its fitted to his body to make it comfortable yet keeps his body aligned. Hopefully we can qualify for it without to much out of pocket pay.

Joe and I just hit our 7 year anniversary! Its hard to believe it has already been 7 years but at the same time it seems like its been longer. We both had to work that day but Joe worked it out with Jason so he could take me to dinner before going into work. It was nice. We had a good evening talking about old time, how we met and all the silly things we used to do before getting married. We found alot of the conversation always turning back to our little family. Funny how even on a night out alone we still bring up our children.

Thats prety much the run down. Just living life as it comes. Upcoming events are Hailey's 6th birthday on the 27th. We are planning a "Beach" themed party for her. Should be cute. My sister Brittney is days away from giving birth to baby Alyssa. And my sister Heather announced a few days ago she is expecting baby #2. I think that about covers it. :)
