Late Night Post

Its nearly 1 am...and Im just about headed to bed. For some reason I felt the need to blog. Nothing really is on my mind, maybe just some last minute anxiety I needed to release. Joseph is doing really well. He has 2 weeks and 1 day left in his cast. It has gone by surprisingly fast. He has adjusted to it for the most part. All of us are looking forward to the day it comes off...which is Jan 13th. He has been such a trooper.

Dad decided to have some chest pains on Christmas eve, so he didnt actually get home until yesterday. He is doing okay though, only a small blockage (which was there before) which means there was no heart attack. Hopefully this will kick start a new year for him full of good eating habits and some exersise.

The kids had fun on Christmas morning. Lost of fun toys for them to play with. Hailey and Megan got a Doll house and Zhu Zhu pets. For those of you who are not familiar, Zhu Zhu pets are little toy hamsters. They have accessories you can buy such as a fun house, cars, sleeping blankets, etc. Silly little things but ended up being the hot buy this year at 8.00 each. Naturally they sold out in stores and people were trying to sell them for 40-50 Each!! I was lucky and waited till the stores restocked.

Joseph got lots of neat toys too. I was able to find several musical toys, light up toys and some sensory toys. He loves them too! His speech therapist thinks they will be helpful during his sessions. He even helped open up his presents this year! Despite all his struggles, he still found a way to be happy on Christmas morning. :)

Joe was really sweet to me. He found a very nice (and expensive) Pot and Pan set. I have been in need of them for quite some time. It will be fun to cook in my new house, on my new stove with my new pans! This will be the first new set I have had since we were married over 7 years ago.

I purchased Joes gift a while back. He wanted this board game that was incredibly expensive for a game..but worth every penny. Worth it to him because its a limited edition and only 2000 copies will be made. Worth it to me, because I know how happy this made him. He was grinning from ear to ear when he found out he was going to the happy owner of one. It was supposed to come a couple weeks before Christmas but had a delay. Now its scheduled to come late Jan to early Feb. I know he cant wait.

Other than that, things have been going well. Still waiting for the house to get started with building. Shouldnt be to much longer before they break ground. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year! I for one cant wait until 2010! I am sooo ready to kiss 2009 goodbye!

Surgery

Joseph's surgery went well. He was in the hospital for 2 days. So far it has been a miserable week for him. The pain meds seem to help but his comfort level is terrible. He cant find a position to satisfy him. I'm sure he will eventually find something that works, but its very difficult to watch.

Diaper changing is very different. The middle section of his cast is open from front to back. We have to slide a diaper inside and then wrap a larger diaper around the cast to catch anything that might slip out. Its not easy to do and Joseph hates being changed now.

We are nearly finished with the first week and have 5 more to go...this is going to be such a long and miserable road. Please Heavenly Father..show me the light at the end of the tunnel, and soon!
